A Message from Our Director
17 years ago I joined the Camp Ma-He-Tu family in the summer of 2001. At 10 years old I had spent the better part of my life begging my parents to send me away to sleep away camp, and pulling into the driveway on move in day felt like an actual dream come true. Since then I have grown up as a camper and served as a CIT (counselor in training), counselor, Head of Waterfront, Head of CITs, Assistant Director and Associate Director. Somehow through all of the years, the magic of returning home to camp each summer never fades.
I am extremely excited and honored to introduce myself as the new director of Camp Ma-He-Tu. Camp has given me a lifetime of memories, my best friends, and the confidence to pursue my dream career. I attended Quinnipiac University to study child psychology and elementary education and now teach 2nd grade in Madison, New Jersey. My experience at camp has been invaluable to my training as a teacher, and I am always excited to take what I learn during the school year and bring it back to camp.
I hope that this summer you will join us in making Ma-He-Tu your home away from home. Make this the year that you try new things, even if they are things that scare you. Take this opportunity to find a new friend (or 110 new friends), even if they’re not like any other friends you’ve had before. Sing a song on stage, learn to canoe, test your skills at archery, sleep under the stars, and spend the summer deep in the woods with us. If you do, I promise it really will be the best summer ever.
Looking forward to meeting you!
